Here are a few of my “To Be Read” piles. I’m slowly working my way through these books, but I’m also adding more books along the way. These don’t include NetGalley or BookBub e-books or BookFunnel ARC’s. What the heck! Right? There’s research that shows having more books than you can read, lengthens your life span. Reading also improves your vocabulary, reduces stress, develops empathy, improves memory, and helps you learn something, among other benefits. And for me, I love it!
“Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another’s skin, another’s voice, another’s soul.” -Joyce Carol Oates
I read a wide range of genres, but Women’s Fiction, Historical Fiction and Mysteries/Psychological Thrillers top the list. And, of course, Southern Fiction. Although, to prove myself wrong, I just finished Lark Ascending by Silas House for my book club. It was a dystopian novel about hope and courage. I finished it in 3 days and would have finished it sooner, but life interrupted. Things like food, sleep, and Father’s Day.
Next for me is this lovely book by Patti Callahan Henry which I started and had to put aside to read some of the books that I’d promised to read before their publication dates. They were all awesome, but I’m so happy to be back reading one of my favorite authors, falling into her lyrical words and deep stories with The Story She Left Behind.
Let me know what’s in your TBR. I’d love to add more to my collection. Is there one book that you’ve been hungry to read and just haven’t been able to get to? Please leave a comment below.
And I’m re-reading stories from this amazing anthology which made me a published author! We just celebrated our 1 Year Book Birthday on June 8 (Women’s Fiction Day)! All profits are donated to the Women’s Fiction Writers Association’s Scholarship Fund to help other writers reach their dreams.
I, too, have a growing TBR list because I try to read authors I know personally, like Terri Lewis's Behold the Bird in Flight. I also have Patti Callahan's new one waiting for me along with The Eights by Joanna Miller.
I have a ton of samples on my Kindle and OMG the list is so long! The TBR books in my physical possession is long, too, but because I rely on the Libby app for library loans, I never know when a book will be available, and when it is, all the others I'm reading have to be put on hold so I can read and return the library book. Right now I'm in the middle of The Unhoneymooners.
